Black Black Black

I have been watching YouTube videos on soap making and came across one soaper on Soap Queen TV who said she always mixes her oils and lye day before and leaves them so they become room temperature. She said always better.   Hmmmm? Well this morning before I went to work I did just that.  Thought ok I'll try as I knew I had a tight schedule after work and I needed this done as I have orders to fill.  Mixed my oils and lye put in a safe place and I let everything sit from 8 am to 11 pm tonight (out Christmas visiting) when I got home I just had to prepare my mold and whip it together. I like this method. I'll definitely keep soaping this way.  Everything then is at the same temperature and clean up a breeze.  I made the Egyptian Nite Skin Repair again.  Love the black!
Stay tuned for the bar. I mixed assorted colour embeds in it this time.  As always the waiting is the toughest thing to do.   Thanks for reading and Happy Winter Soltise!! Peace be with you in the longest day of the year. :))

Hobo Stove

This has absolutely nothing to do with soap but had to share .  My husband John and I are trying to keep busy as we are both quitting smoking.  So to occupy the time he decided to make little hobo stoves with tin cans.  A Johnny Stove.  There are two cans here.  One smaller one that he took one lid off with can opener, drilled holes into bottom of can and sides.  Here is inside view:
Here is top view.  The inside can fits perfect into outside can.  So you have holes on bottom for ash to fall out and airflow.  You make a fire,  sticks,  birch bark,  forest floor material.  He bought a roll of chicken wire and cut a piece big enough around to fit into the tin can groove to hold your pot.
The one part is open so you have a spot for fuelling your fire.  And when your done it fits inside the bottom of can.
I'm surprised it's holding up this big stainless steel pot.  A good survival item.  I think I'll put one in the trunk of my car.  And I think I might make some and sell them lol neat thanks for looking.

Rudolph Red Nose Soap

How adorable is this?!! My son designed it I made it.  A whole day of soaping for this soap masterpiece.  Organic Melt and Pour eyes, nose and antlers. Ingredients: olive, castor, coconut, crisco new/palm.  White titanium dioxide, brown oxide, distill water, sodium hydroxide.  Activated charcoal for black eyes, red lab colour for nose. Sprinkle of Cocoa powder and gold mica.  Candy Cane, Pomegranate Noir and Tahitian Monoi  Blossom fragrances.  (In m&p only) cp soap unscented so no acceleration of trace.  These turned out fab.  You can mix melt and pour with cp, these embeds turned out exactly how I wanted.  I used two dividers to pour the white and brown then you pull the dividers up and out to make the sections.  Sprinkled cocoa powder then embedded nose.  Added more brown soap then embedded the eyes.  Poured the rest skewered the top to form a peak and embedded the antlers in the sides of the peak.  Antlers were made using wreaths cut in half.  A kiniption that I thought up and are perfect for this project.  What a fun gift these will make.  Next maybe I'll do an elf :))

Christmas Markets

Christmas market in Upsala Ontario then off to Dryden for another.  Highways were icy and wet but we had a good driver.  Lori and Sue debuted their soy candles and were a huge hit.  I spent some money at their table.  The buzz was on! Made it back to Thunder Bay in one piece. A great weekend for sure. Great people very friendly.
